A Young Matilda at 17 and now, a multi-year contract! Wanderers prospect signs on

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have re-signed teenage midfielder Milly Bennett on a two-year deal, keeping her at the club until the end of the Ninja A-League 2026-27 season.

Bennett joined the club on a youth development contract at the start of the 2023-24 season, earned a scholarship deal last season and has now secured a professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old midfielder has already made her mark on the national stage, being part of the CommBank Young Matildas squad that qualified for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup in Tajikistan in August.

During the off-season, Bennett has continued to develop her game with the Wanderers Girls Academy, further honing her skills ahead of the upcoming Ninja A-League season.

Bennett made 16 appearances for the Red & Black last season and said she was ready to continue her growth at the club.

“I think I had a great entry season last season. It was a really good environment and I think Geoff (head coach Geoff Abrahams) has had a lot of belief in me. I’m really excited for the season ahead and to continue to develop my football,” said Bennett.

“Geoff has a lot of confidence and belief in us as a team and the culture that we have as a group, so I’m really looking forward to that being implemented from the start.

“Coming in at only 17, all the support from the fans at every home game and even away games has been unreal. It really means everything to look into the crowd and see Wanderers fans supporting you.”

“Milly has shown incredible growth over the past two seasons and is a player we are excited to continue developing. She brings energy, intelligence, and a strong mindset to the team, and we can’t wait to see her take her game to the next level in what will be my first full season with the squad.”
